Iloroll CR
Cold-rolling oilWater-mix cold-rolling fluid for steel tandem and reversing mills.
Specialty rolling oils engineered for surface finish, thermal control and strip cleanliness in cold and temper rolling operations.
Castrol Iloroll cold-rolling oils for steel and aluminium cold-rolling mills. Steel rolling oils based on synthetic ester and mineral chemistries with EP and AW packages tuned to mill speeds, reduction ratios and surface-finish requirements. Aluminium rolling oils — narrower-cut paraffinic with low aromatic content — chosen for foil and sheet-rolling cleanliness. Tank-life monitoring and oxidation control are major operating-cost drivers.
Rolling oils are the lubricants applied at the roll bite in metal rolling mills. In cold rolling they do three jobs at once: control friction between work roll and strip, carry away the enormous heat generated by plastic deformation, and leave a residue clean enough to burn off in annealing without staining. The chemistry that balances those three — base oil, esters and emulsifier package — is what separates a rolling oil from a generic lubricant.
Steel and stainless mills typically run oil-in-water emulsions or dispersions with tightly controlled saponification value and particle size; the emulsion stability window decides both surface finish and mill cleanliness. Aluminium rolling is stricter still: staining and residue behaviour dominate, and foil mills demand low-viscosity neat oils with carefully selected load-carrying esters.
Temper (skin-pass) rolling uses dedicated temper fluids where corrosion protection and wet-ability matter more than film strength. Castrol’s Iloroll range covers cold rolling of steel and stainless, with grades matched to mill type, reduction schedule and annealing route — supplied and technically supported across AP & Telangana.

As the authorized Castrol industrial distributor for Andhra Pradesh, every drum and pail we supply is sourced directly from Castrol India’s Silvassa, Paharpur and Patalganga plants with full batch traceability. Our Bhimavaram warehouse stocks the complete metal rolling oils range for 48–72 hour delivery across AP, and our technical team is available on-site for application trials, coolant sampling, and training. Paired with our CoolantCare fluid management programme, you get not just a supplier but a lubrication partner committed to lowering your total cost of lubrication.
Rolling oils must deliver extreme-pressure lubrication at the roll bite (tonnes per mm² of contact pressure) while leaving the strip clean enough to skip or minimise the downstream degrease step. That combination of EP, plate-out and cleanliness is unique to rolling and cannot be delivered by a general-purpose soluble oil.
Cold rolling of steel normally runs an oil-in-water emulsion built on a rolling oil such as Castrol Iloroll: the oil phase controls friction and surface finish at the roll bite while the water phase removes heat. Grade choice depends on reduction per pass, mill speed and whether the strip goes to batch or continuous annealing.
Start from staining behaviour and annealing cleanliness, not friction. Aluminium sheet and foil demand low-residue chemistry — typically low-viscosity neat oils with selected ester load-carriers — because any residue that survives annealing shows as stain. Then match viscosity and additive level to mill type (foil, sheet or plate) and reduction schedule.
Typically 2–4 working days across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, depending on your location — coastal AP hubs like Bhimavaram, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam are at the faster end, interior and Telangana locations at the outer. Stocked grades ship immediately on order confirmation; we quote a firm delivery date with every quotation rather than a blanket promise.
Cold-rolling oil selection is one of the most application-specific decisions in industrial lubrication, and the chemistry split between steel and aluminium service is fundamental. For steel cold rolling — tandem and reversing-mill service producing automotive-grade, appliance-grade, or tinplate-base sheet — Castrol Iloroll mineral and synthetic-ester chemistries combine controlled friction at the roll-bite interface with sufficient cooling capacity to manage the strip-temperature rise from plastic deformation. The fluid must produce uniform sheet-surface finish, prevent roll-mark defects, support stable mill-pass schedules, and tolerate continuous filtration recovery without phase separation.
For aluminium cold rolling — narrow-cut paraffinic-based oils with very low aromatic content — the specifications shift toward foil and sheet-rolling cleanliness. Aromatic content above approximately 5% produces staining on aluminium surfaces; thermal stability becomes critical as foil-rolling reduces strip thickness through high-reduction passes that generate significant heat. Castrol Iloroll aluminium-grade variants are designed specifically for this duty.
The operational variables that drive oil-condition management are tank-life monitoring (water content, particulate, oxidation), recovery and filtration efficiency (paper-belt filtration is standard, magnetic and centrifuge separation may be added), and emulsion stability for water-emulsion variants. For automotive-grade steel cold rolling at high mill speeds, drain intervals are short (3-6 months typical) due to incoming-strip contamination loading; for tinplate and packaging-steel service, longer drain intervals are achievable through tighter filtration. Tank-life monitoring is operationally significant — premature drain costs tens of lakhs in oil and downtime, while extended-drain-beyond-spec produces rolling defects and rejected coil that costs orders of magnitude more.
For cold-rolling-mill operators in the South Indian steel cluster (Visakhapatnam Steel, JSW, Tata Steel) and the broader Indian aluminium-rolling base (Hindalco, Vedanta-Sterlite, NALCO), Castrol Iloroll is one of the recognised mill-oil specifications. Vasundhara Specialities supplies the Iloroll range across AP and Telangana with technical support for mill-oil management programme — sample-analysis-driven tank-life optimisation, filtration-efficiency advisory, and contamination-event troubleshooting. The selection between specific Iloroll grades (mineral baseline vs synthetic-ester premium) is driven by mill speed, reduction-pass severity, and surface-finish target — we cross-reference your mill-OEM specification and existing supplier baseline before recommending a specific grade.
